The Pants
Our pants are made for women, by women*. They're not bedroom pants, seduction pants or hello boys (or girls) pants - they are a little bit of gorgeous, just for you, every day. These are the sorts of pants women buy for themselves, for their sisters, their friends – a gorgeous gift in itself but with the added, ‘look, by buying these I helped make jobs’ bonus.
Styles
Right now we make three styles for women (we're working on mens and we have five styles for women in development, including Hannah and Henrietta) In the order we launched them they are...
Rosalind, a Brazilian styled higher cut 'skimpier' short
Cecilia, a side seamed shortie
Every new recruit starts by working on the Aimee style and then moves onto the more complicated styles. Before working with us, our team who had never sewn pants before. It’s not like dressmaking at all, it’s more complicated, and so we’re teaching one thing at a time. We are always working on new styles, to teach new skills and provide challenges.
Sizes
We currently makes sizes 8 – 18 (more info on sizing here ) A few times a year we get asked about larger or smaller sizes and we do have a waiting list for these - if the demand grows, we will make them. At the moment, though, we sell very few at either end of our sizes - under ten pairs of size 18 a month - so it would be disproportionately expensive to add sizes at either end of our range. Please email us at hello at whomadeyourpants dot co dot uk to let us know what size you'd like.
Fabrics
The fabrics we use are traditional synthetic lingerie fabrics (lycras, microfibres, laces, nets, occasionally lightweight swim or dance fabrics if they have patterns we can't resist) left over from big factories at the end of season - but in perfect condition. They come in a variety of depths, widths, colours and have varying levels of elastane.
All the pants are lined with a cotton jersey gusset, and again, this is reclaimed fabric too.
As the fabrics we use are reclaimed, we rarely know the exact breakdown of the fibre content - oftentimes we get no information on the fibres at all. Because of this, we label them all as 'mixed fibres'. We do know that they tend to include polyamide, nylon, elastane, and occasionally viscose.
Also, as the fabrics are reclaimed, when they are gone, they are gone.
We focus on using these fabrics as opposed to cotton/hemp/bamboo for lots of reasons
Finally, due to the way we source our fabrics, there may occasionally be slight shade or pattern differences from those pictured.
*Apart from the Man Pants , which are made by women, for men. But you know what we mean.
