Who Made Your Pants? is just about my perfect business.
Gorgeous, fabulous, indulgent clothing? Tick!
Underwear for the women who wear it, rather than for the male gaze? Tick!
Women consumers supporting women workers? Tick!
Knowing – for absolute good and sure – that I'm not funding sweatshops? Tick!
Tick tick tick! Bloody marvellous.
Now, if you just gave away salted caramels with every purchase I'd reach Total Pants Nirvana.
I found about about WMYP on twitter. I follow Gia Milinovich (@giagia) and she'd been tweeting about WMYP for a while. One evening she tweeted a link to the WMYP sale, and the rest is history. When I found out how frankly groovy they are as a company – and then saw how fabulous the pants are – I was hooked.
Cecilias are definitely my favourite style; I love the lettuce-edging, especially in Seashell Ma Belle; such gorgeous colours. But they've also acted as a bit of a gateway drug, pants-wise, because now I've got a pair of Aimees in Lunah, and I love them massively. They are the most stunning deep midnight blue.
Suffice it to say that I sometimes dress as a superhero (For work. For work!), and the Secret Agent Silver Cecilias are a natural match for my costume. Good pants are essential for superhero work; it's really hard to fight crime effectively when you've got a wedgie. This is something few graphic novels really cover in the detail they should.
Shelley's new book, Vigilante, will be launched on January 8th 2015. Watch her talk about it here
