Recycle Week

This week, from the 15th to the 21st it's Recycle Week here in the UK
As you know we take fabrics that are left over from the clothing industry and turn them into new pants and jobs. We love the idea of trash to treasure and have kitted out our factory with refurbished industrial machines, second hand tables, lockers, chairs and even whiteboards (they do take a bit of extra elbow grease to clean but them's the breaks)
For Recycle Week we wanted to share with you some other trash to treasure organisations that we love.
Elvis and Kresse turn reclaimed fire hose into stunning - stunning - bags, belts and more. These candlesticks are gorgeous - and yes I know they're a bit spendy but they are turning something destined for trash into something beautiful and long lasting. I personally like fewer better things where possible and I have one of these bags, bought with money I was left, which is my one Grown Up bag for when I need to be smart.
The Philippine Community Fund also make bags, purses and jewellery from reclaimed ring pulls, toothpastes tubes, even crisp packets.
You can help PCF by buying but also by sending them them your ring pulls (from drink cans) toothpaste tubes (no plastic pumps) to PCF, PO Box 294, Hedge End, Southampton SO30 2YD
Sarah Turner makes stunning lighting and decorative items from waste plastic bottles. Everything is gorgeous, from sweet simple LED flowers at £7 to the dramatic Ella light at £450
For tasty treats, Rubies in the Rubble make a range of chutneys from (mostly) fruit and veg which would have otherwise gone to waste.
And finally... if you happen to find yourself on the International Space Station (ISS) you will find yourself drinking recycled... urine! Watch this video here for a fascinating insight into life in space
