Limited Edition Hannah pants - name your price and random draw

As you may have seen this week, were still looking for ways to offer our Limited Edition Pants fairly and in way that's maybe even a bit fun.

There was great feedback on the idea we had about name your price with a random draw - it was kind of inspired by the story in the news about a Professor using a version of the Prisoners Dilemma to offer his students more marks on a test

So this weekend we're going to give it a whirl! Info up here, instructions down below - we've never done this before so please do read them!

Here's the thing.

We have a TOTAL of just 33 pairs of Hannah Pants made from ends of rolls.

Black, which we call Row, Row, Row Your Boat, and a rich brown, our old Sweet like Chocolate Limes lace, which we called O Christmas Tree (we'd planned initially to launch these last Christmas but for a gazillion reasons we didn't) and we want to sell them for £10 each. This means selling them all should make us £330 which is a fat chunk of a weeks wage bill for our team

Here's what you need to do - the offer is live here but please read this first!

SELECT YOUR SIZE FIRST

Then make an offer - for any price from £1 up - for one pair of Hannah Pants.

We accept offers all weekend, from Friday morning to Sunday midnight and then on Monday, we open up all the offers and then we use a random number generator to randomly select 33 offers, one for each pair of Pants.

We tot up the value and if those 33 offers would generate us £330 cash, we accept them all.

If they don't reach £330, we ignore the first offer we randomly selected, add a new one, and repeat until the value reaches £330

As soon as we have 33 orders from 33 different people (you can place multiple offers but if two of your offers are randomly selected we will discount the second we randomly select regardless of value) that total a value of £330 we accept all those offers.

We send notices to those people who have had their offers accepted.

Those people pay for their Pants online as normal.

We post the Pants out as normal.

This means that if there's one generous person (or two, or ten) out there who offers us £25 (or £50 or £100 or £squillion) for one pair, there is strong chance that a bunch of £1 offers will be accepted. If everyone offers under £10 then we have to think of something else.

The experiment is live here

Let's see how it goes! Get offering and we'll announce the results on Monday!

Hi Phil. Thanks for asking. We intend to pick 33 offers that match our sizes and meet the cash total we need. We’re really hoping that there will be lots of offers - when we have sold anything limited edition recently, weve been swamped with interest and it’s sold out in just a few hours, showing us that there was huge demand. If we get the same response to this that we did to other sales of Limited Edition items we should have more offers than Pants across all sizes. We hope that the people that were frustrated by not being able to get hold of those are able to make offers and as we’ve never done this before either we hope it works! We’ll be tweeting and FBing on Monday about how it all went. Thanks!

A stupid question - how does the offer-making work with the sizes of the Pants? It strikes me as unlikely that the 33 offers you draw (making the right total) will be an exact match to the sizes of the 33 pairs of pants…?
